Theberton & Eastbridge

Theberton Sign

Situated four miles from Leiston, peaceful Eastbridge is certainly a village off the beaten track, but a very popular location for thousands of visitors each year, who journey to the renowned RSPB Minsmere reserve – only half a mile away.

Surrounded by marsh land, the main feature of the village is the Eels Foot Inn – an ale house dating back to 1533 and another favourite stop, centuries ago, for travellers and smugglers alike. The pub has a strong association with folk music and hosts a popular weekly gathering for those who enjoys these tales in song and music.

Extremely popular with walkers, birdwatchers and cyclists, the quiet surroundings of this hidden hamlet provide an ideal location to spot wildlife including marsh harriers, bitterns, owls, deer, otters and water voles.
